When I Get Stuck
I’ll be honest: I get stuck more often than I’d like to admit.
Ideas pile up. Priorities blur. My calendar fills, but real progress stalls.
For a long time, I thought this was just part of the journey, whether as a founder, advisor, or professional. But here’s what I realized - the real problem isn’t lack of effort. It’s the clarity gap.
That space between what you’re doing and what actually moves the needle.
To close that gap, I developed a simple 30-minute clarity exercise. It’s now part of my weekly reset, and it’s helped me (and those I coach) turn vague ideas into specific next steps.
And here’s the best part: this isn’t just for startup founders. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a solopreneur, or a professional in transition, you can use this exact framework today, and I’ve made the tool available for free to help you practice it.
By the end of this article, you’ll:
Spot where you’re stuck
Apply the 30-minute clarity framework
Walk away with a personalised next-step plan you can actually execute
The Cost of Staying Stuck
The clarity gap isn’t just frustrating. It’s expensive.
I’ve wasted weeks pushing tasks that led nowhere.
I’ve missed opportunities because I couldn’t articulate my priorities.
I’ve carried stress home, thinking I was “busy” but not moving forward.
And I’ve seen the same pattern in the founders and professionals I coach: endless effort, scattered focus, and no real system to cut through the noise.
Without clarity, momentum stalls. And when momentum stalls, so does confidence.
The Shift That Changed Everything
Here’s the truth I had to face:
Hard work doesn’t equal progress. Clarity does.
So I started experimenting. I asked: What if I could design a quick exercise?
something I could run in 30 minutes that forced me to reset, zoom out, and identify the next actions that actually matter!
That experiment became my weekly ritual.
Over time, it’s turned into the Clarity Sprint I now share with clients.
And today, I want to share it with you.
The Framework: 30-Minute Clarity Sprint
This isn't theory. It's the exact process I use when I feel overwhelmed or directionless. I've turned it into a guided app that walks you through each step with a timer.
Step 1: Reality Dump (7 minutes)
Empty your brain completely.
Write down every task, worry, idea, or decision that's weighing on you. Don't organise. Don't filter. Just dump it all out.
(Personal story: The first time I did this, I realised I was carrying 22 half-finished thoughts in my head. No wonder I felt paralysed.)
Step 2: One Thing Filter (8 minutes)
Here's the crucial question that cuts through the noise: "If I had to hire someone tomorrow to take over my business, what's the FIRST thing I'd need to be crystal clear about?"
This forces you to identify your single most important priority right now.
Step 3: Decision Matrix (10 minutes)
Take your biggest options and score each one on three factors:
Impact (1-5): How much will this move the needle?
Effort (1-5): How difficult is this to execute?
Confidence (1-5): How sure are you this will work?
The app automatically calculates which option scores highest. Math doesn't lie.
Step 4: Roadmap Snapshot (5 minutes)
Now create your action roadmap with three time horizons:
Do Now: 3 immediate actions (this week)
Do Next: 3 short-term actions (next month)
Do Later: 3 future actions (this quarter)
Start with your overall goal, then break it down into these concrete steps.
The Result:
You walk away with a clear priority, a winning option backed by data, and a 9-step roadmap that takes you from overwhelmed to organised.
The Best Part:
Your results are formatted for printing. Stick it on your wall, your computer, or your vision board. One page. All the clarity you need.
This step is non-negotiable. Share one action with someone who can keep you honest a peer, a coach, or even your future self in a journal.

Transformation: Before vs. After
Before using this, my weeks looked like scattered noise. I was reacting, not creating.
After?
I walked into Monday mornings knowing exactly what to tackle.
I could say no to distractions without guilt. And most importantly, I started seeing consistent results.
One founder I worked with used this exercise and realised her “urgent” tasks were actually distractions. Within two weeks, she landed her first paying customer by focusing on just one core action she’d been avoiding.
For me, the biggest transformation was emotional: going from overwhelm to confidence in under 30 minutes.
Clarity Sprint Tool - grab it NOW
I've built this entire exercise into a free, ready-to-use tool.
A focused 30-minute "Clarity Sprint" that will help you:
✨ Brain dump everything on your mind (7 min)
🎯 Identify your ONE most important priority (8 min)
⚖️ Score your options with a proven decision matrix (10 min)
🗺️ Create your action roadmap (5 min)
You'll get beautiful results you can print and post on your wall.
I share this because I know how frustrating the clarity gap feels.
It steals your time, drains your energy, and hides the opportunities right in front of you.
But here’s the thing: clarity isn’t reserved for “organized people” or “lucky founders.” It’s a system anyone can practice in 30 minutes or less.
So here’s my challenge: try it once this week. Run the sprint. Notice what changes.
And if it helps you, pass this article along to one person in your circle who’s stuck in the fog right now.
You might just be the reason they find their clarity.

Great 30-minute exercise! This will help a lot of people :)
I have a similar routine.
I executed it in the morning. And now moved it to closing of the day
- 1/so my plan is clear for next day and
- 2/ so I can celebrate the achievements of the day ( while still fresh )
1/ is important otherwise i started my day with cognitive overload ( the paradox of choice , Barry Schwartz )
And I want to keep my morning for my most important tasks ( generally creative tasks).
Make sense ?
